Lunchinho is Going Green with Friendlier! 🌱

Finding the right packaging for Lunchinho has been one of our biggest challenges. As Ottawa moms, parents, and business owners, we’ve spent countless hours researching, testing, and rethinking how to serve fresh, healthy meals in the most sustainable way possible. We knew single-use packaging wasn’t the answer, but finding the right alternative wasn’t easy.

We tested compostable containers, but they weren’t sturdy enough to keep food fresh in school lunches. We tried recyclable options, only to realize that many still end up in landfills. We even considered high-quality disposable materials, but nothing truly aligned with our vision of reducing waste while keeping meals convenient for busy families. Every option had trade-offs—until we found Friendlier.

That’s why we’re so excited to share that Lunchinho is officially switching to reusable containers! Starting after March Break, all of our meal-prep lunchboxes will come in eco-friendly, reusable containers through our partnership with Friendlier, a proudly Canadian company dedicated to reducing waste.

Why This Change Matters

Lunchboxes are a part of daily life for families in Ottawa, and we know firsthand how much packaging waste comes from school lunches. As parents, we want to teach our kids about making better choices for the planet, and as business owners, we have a responsibility to lead by example. By switching to reusable containers, we’re not just cutting down on waste—we’re showing our children that sustainability is possible when we all do our part.

How It Works

Starting after March Break, Lunchinho meals will come in eco-friendly, reusable containers instead of disposable packaging. After your child enjoys their meal, simply place the empty container inside the thermal bag—no need to wash it, just make sure there are no leftovers. We’ll collect the containers, and Friendlier will professionally sanitize and reuse them, making the process effortless for families while reducing waste.
